Raleigh – A Coalition was announced today consisting of medical professionals from across the state of North Carolina who are focused on protecting patients by ensuring continued access to physician-led care.
The NC Patient Safety Coalition will educate patients, lawmakers, and others about the cost and quality of care benefits of doctors leading the patient care team. As members of the patient care team, physicians have the highest level of training and preparation to make informed health care decisions to provide the best quality care for patients.
There is a legislative effort to eliminate physician involvement in patient care. Removing physicians from the patient care team would negatively impact patient safety, lead to higher costs, and would have minimal impact on access to care. This policy proposal is bad for North Carolina patients. The NC Patient Safety Coalition is an alliance of medical professionals that advocate for physician-led health care that protects patient safety.
